Want to host a show but don't know where to start? The most effective web content, from blogs to podcasts, serves a niche audience. What's your niche? What are you truly passionate about? Zero in on that topic for show ideas.
For example, let's say you're a music fan who knows everything about rock. A general podcast about rock music might struggle to find a consistent, enthusiastic audience. A more defined approach, one that allows a host to "own" a show's POV, might be more effective (e.g. "desert island" picks, unsigned bands from Dallas, forgotten songs of the 90s).
That idea holds true with any general topic: "sports" can be narrowed down to "fantasy baseball" or "New York sports talk." "Food" can be "cooking on a budget" or "best New England seafood."
Once you lock in a specific show idea that speaks to you, generating episode ideas and topics should be fairly effortless. (And of course, once you do start producing episodes, make sure you deliver them on a consistent basis!)
